Techno Protection

Techno Protection is a technique based on the cathodic protection concept and is used to reduce the corrosion process of underground metallic structures such as metal posts.

METHODOLOGY
The techno protection can be applied via two methods:

1) Techno Protection Impressed Current (TPIM)
The TPIM functions by using an active material composed of precious metal oxides and fed by a source of external current;
a "rectifier". Through this rectifier, voltage is applied to the metal post, which in turn generates a difference of potential between the post and the active material, thus protecting the structure from corrosion.

2) Techno Protection by Sacrificial Anodes (TPSA)
The TPSA uses the intrinsic electrochemical properties of metals by using materials made with a less noble metal than the metal used for metal posts. These anodes are consumed by unloading a current and thus insuring protection of the structure.

APPLICATION
The decision of which method of protection is the most appropriate (TPIM or TPSA), as well as the application methodology, is made in fonction of the type of job goal as well as the environment, in other words, the decision is made on a case by case basis.

In any case, in order to apply the Techno Protection technology in an effective and durable way, three very important factors must be applied:

1. Identifying the appropriate method of installation in order to determine the type and method for the installation of the Techno Protection.
2. Insure the quality of the materials
   - Certified materials
   - SA: ASTM G97 and B843
   - IM: ASTM B265 CP Titanim
3. Turnkey installation
4. Establishing a verification and follow-up plan by experienced technicians from the Techno Post/Techno Protection network.
